My name is Benjamin and I have a passion for fishing in all its aspects, from fly to deep sea I am prepared for it all and I would like to take you along for the journey. I Live in South Africa a land with harsh sun but bountiful fishing opportunities I am a trained chef and teacher, professions I apply to many aspects of my life.
My father lived to fish and taught me how to fly fish at a young age. However, as I became older and when to university, I found I was fishing less and less due to a busy and chaotic lifestyle that comes with studying. However, in the last ten years I have become invested again thanks to relearning new fishing techniques and all things fishing.
My first great fishing experience catching Largemouth bass in a private dam on a farm in the western cape. I have taken a 10-year hiatus from fishing and only fly fished for trout before then. This was the first time I used a conventional reel and rod and though it was a downgrade in many ways the last thing I expected was the ferocity and aggression of the spawning bass and was instantly hooked again.
Since then, I have traveled to a few parts of south Africa from fishing for largemouth bass, fly fishing trout in the eastern cape and other interesting places with exotic species, freshwater fishing, or salt water there is always something to learn and experience and I love it all.
Now iv started this blog to share my experiences with you all, to teach you the techniques and tricks that I have picked up in the last 10 years. To share everything, I can about fishing and show the many options available and hopefully inspire new people to come join in this wonderful sport using my experience as fuel for their imagination.
I also plan to help take away some of the confusion that comes with fishing through concise and detailed reviews, fishing guides and articles with all the tips and tricks you need.
I hope one day to travel the world, soaking up as much fishing experiences I can find sharing with others and most importantly having fun. So, join me as I show you the ropes, teach you new things and exploring South Africa and beyond in this wonderful world of fishing.
